Marie-Chantale Turgeon - Bio (English - Français)

Marie-Chantale is an art director, web designer, illustrator and painter. She's also well known as an active blogger and podcaster, promoting the best around pop culture and indie music via her Vu d'ici - Seen from here blog. As an extremely creative person, ideas seems to get out of her head at a speed anyone would find hard to follow. Commonly nicknamed m-c, she now lives and work in Montreal, Canada, coming back from Germany where she spent 4 years working as an art director.

Her main interests converge around music, arts and communications, popular culture and new medias. She is also known to be a trend observer in the developpement of the ever expanding medium that is the internet, not without her artistic point of view, wich makes her a part of this new indie subculture. Recent recognitions are coming from magazines such as Spin, then a special podcast recording for German radio Zundfunk, and a participation as panelist for the Mutek 05 festival.

Over the past few years, she has done web design for many clients within the music industry (Universal Records, Deutsche Grammophon, edel Records). She recently worked as art director for several clients in Montreal including Hydro-Québec and the National Library of Quebec. She is now into building meïdia, a creative studio where she will team up with collaborators to offer different services relating to new web technologies such as blogging, podcasting, and other interactive technologies.

Her design work was seen in publications like Cre@te Online (UK), Design Monthly (Hong Kong), Cybershop (DE), Futurist Guide to the web (Hong Kong), and Communication Art Online (USA) while her illustrations have been seen in Skirt! Magazine (USA), Figurati magazine (Brasil) and into the Fox 2003 day planner. Her most recent artwork can be seen on her website, namely a sensitive series inspired by the Ipod as a device to connect people in urban centers.

Elle est aussi reconnue comme une analyste de tendances en ce qui a trait aux nouvelles technologies web: son blogue bilingue Vu d'ici - Seen from here ainsi que son émission de radio sur le web (podcast) lui valurent plusieurs reconnaissances médiatiques au cours des derniers mois. En effet, le Spin magazine considère son podcast comme étant un des 5 meilleurs, la radio publique allemande Zundfunk lui a demandé d'enregistrer un podcast spécialement pour elle et elle a fait partie des invités au festival Mutek comme paneliste en juin dernier.

Elle poursuit maintenant sa carrière à Montréal et s'apprète à lancer meïdia, un studio de création orienté sur les nouvelles technologies web tel les blogues, le podcasting et autres technologies intéractives.

Ses principaux intérêts tournent autour des arts et communications, de la culture populaire et des nouveaux médias, ainsi que tout ce qui touche le processus créatif et le développement personnel.

Elle a à son actif plusieurs projets web réalisés entre autre pour l’industrie musicale (Universal Records, Deutsche Grammophon, edel Records). Son travail a été souligné dans des publications telle que Cre@te Online (UK), Design Monthly (Hong Kong), Cybershop (DE), Futurist Guide to the web (Hong Kong), et Communication Art Online (USA).

Ses illustrations ont récemment été publiées sur une base mensuelle par le magazine Skirt! (USA), la revue Figurati (Brésil) ainsi que dans l’agenda 2003 des papiers Fox.
